This 5 Days Kalahari Expedition Tour takes you to Botswana’s most remarkable destinations. You will begin your tour in Mag Makgadikgadi National Park, one of the largest salt flats in the world, situated southwest of the Okavango Delta. Your next destination is the Central Kalahari Game Reserve with its red sand dunes, salt pans and open plains.

Day 1: Explore Makgadikgadi National Park
Start your journey with meeting an expert driver- guide from African Vacation Safaris at Maun International Airport upon arrival or from the hotel in Maun. After a short briefing about what to expect on this 5 Day Kalahari Expedition Tour, embark on a journey to Makgadikgadi Plains, one of the best locations in Botswana for spotting meerkats.
Makgadikgadi Plains stretching over an area of 3,900 square kilometers incorporates the western end of Ntwetwe, featuring extensive grasslandsand acacia woodland, meeting the Nxai Pan National Park, separated by the Nata-Maun Road at its northern boundary.
Upon arrival at your lodge, you will check in and enjoy a hot lunch. In the afternoon, we will head out searching for meerkats. You will also spot other wildlife species thriving in the area including herds of zebras, wildebeests, red hartebeests, kudu, bushbuck, duiker giraffes, springbok and elephants among others. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Explore Makgadikgadi Pans National Park
This day is dedicated to exploring Makgadikgaid Pans National Park. After breakfast, meet your Driver-Guide and head to the Ntwetwe Pan, one of the world’s biggest salt pans stretching as far as your eyes can see.
Ntwetwe Pan is one of three major pans in the park, along with Sowa and Nxai. Covering an area of approximately 25,000 square kilometers, Ntwetwe Pan stands out from other sites in the park due to its immense size and pristine nature beauty. Its shimmering with surface stretches as far as the eyes can see, creating a surreal landscape that will leave you in awe.
You will explore the pans on quad bike creating more forever lasting memories in Botswana.

Day 3: Explore Central Kalahari Game Reserve
After breakfast, you will check out of your camp and depart for Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the biggest reserve in Botswana set within the Kalahari Desert. On this journey done on a safari vehicle, you will enjoy perfect viewing of flat grasslands when you arrive in the reserve and wildlife of the area including springbok and gemsbok, wildebeests, hartebeests, elands, and giraffes.
Upon arrival at the camp, you will be warmly welcomed with lunch and afternoon relaxation. Later head out for an evening and sunset gam drive around Deception Valley, keep an eye out for oryx, the desert-adapted springbok, jackal, the rare brown hyena, red-crested korhaan and herds of wildebeests among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Explore the Central Kalahari
Spend a full day exploring Central Kalahari Game Reserve. After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive to Sunday Pan Waterhole for sightings of wildlife. You will also see cheetahs and lions resting up in the midday heat under the dense thorn Acacia tortillas thickets.
Central Kalahari Game Reserve also boasts an incredible range of birdlife including secretary bird, kori bustard and ostrich which are commonly spotted. With a bit of luck, you will see lappet-faced vultures and white-backed vultures too. Continue with the morning game drive taking you back through Leopard Pan, arriving at the camp in time for lunch and afternoon relaxation.
In the evening, we depart for another game drive to Deception Pan where you will enjoy a great sunset. Once the sun disappears from the sky, you will head back to your camp for dinner and overnight stay.
