Day 1: Khwai Community Area

Your Botswana Journey starts with pick up either at your hotel or the airport upon arrival by our expert African Vacation Safaris Driver-Guide and transfer you to Khwai Community Area, an 1800 km area situated in the northeastern Okavango next to the Moremi Game Reserve.

The Khwai Community Area/ Concession runs along the Khwai River, beyond the Northern Gate of Moremi Game Reserve. This small concession is owned and run by the community in nearby Khawi village.  Khwai is one of the best wilderness destination in Botswana with very high concentrations of game, including a selection of predators such as lions, leopards, wild dogs, cheetahs, serval, and African wild cat among others.

On arrival in this beautiful concession, you will head to your camp for check and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a game drive and possibly watch the sunset unfold over the Khwai River.

Day 2: Khwai Community Area  

Today, you will wake up early before day breakfast for a cup of coffee or light breakfast and set off to at dawn to explore the Khwai Community Area. Follow the Khwai River’s watercourse weaving from the riverside and floodplains into the mophoane veild and woodlands that Khwai one of the most scenic areas in the famous Okavango Delta.

The Khwai Community Area hosts an excellent population of African elephants, the swampy areas are home to Red Lechwe, the Southern Giraffe, Burchell’s Zebra, Tsessebe, the Greater Kudu, and Impalas among others which you will see during the game drive.

Khwai Area is a birder’s haven hosting one of the large concentrations of birds in Botswana including raptors and water birds that are in abundant.

Enjoy picnic lunch or at your camp. In the afternoon, you will indulge in a Mokoro Excursion along the Khwai River which is part of the Okavango Delta System. During the excursion you will have some great encounters with aquatic birds as well as mammals.

Day 3: Savuti   

Wake up early for a cup of coffee and a delicious breakfast, then go for a game drive through Khwai as you head northeast to Savuti.

Bordering the Delta to the west and Chobe National Park to the east, Savuti is one of Africa’s best known big game areas, with an enchanting beauty. The area boasts one of the greatest concentrations of animals in Southern Africa.

Savuti is known for its predators including lions, leopards and cheetahs and several bird species including birds of prey, vultures and among others. The 100 kilometers Savuti Channel is the remarkable feature of Savuti, at times it will stop flowing and remain dry for years at a stretch. When it recommences its flow, it changes the entire ecosystem, transferring the Savuti Marsh and Mababe Depression into wetlands. This creates an oasis that provides water for the wildlife in the region and acts as a magnet for a profusion of water birds.

After lunch at your camp after checking in, we will have an afternoon game drive exploring Savuti and search for resident wildlife including herds of buffaloes, zebras and elephants and several bird species including Abdim’s storks, carmine bee eaters and fish eagles among others.

Day 4: Chobe National Park

Wake up early for a delicious breakfast, thereafter go for en-route game drive as you travel northeastwards to the remarkable Chobe National Park River Front.

The Chobe Riverfront also known as Serondela Area forms the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park featuring lush plains and dense forests as well the renowned Chobe River, attracting huge numbers of elephants, buffaloes and general wildlife.

On the drive, you will encounter large herds of elephants, buffaloes, zebras, Roan and Sable, Puku, Tsessebe, elands, waterbucks, Red Lechwe and giraffes among others which are abundant in the area.

Day 5: Chobe National Park – Departure

After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive exploring Chobe National Park’s River Front more as you enjoy sighting of several animals including lions, leopards, large herds of elephants, wildebeests, warthogs, giraffes and several antelope species such as Roan and Sable, Puku, Tsessebe, Eland, Red Lechwe, Waterbuck, and the rare Chobe Bushbuck.

After the game drive, you will depart Chobe National Park for a drop off at Kasane International Airport, bringing your Botswana Safari to an end.
