Mara Nyika Camp is a four-star mid-range lodging located in a private part of Kenya’s famous Masaai Mara National Park. The camp is located on the western side of the Naboisha conservancy, which borders the famed Masaai Mara National Reserve. The camp is administered and owned by the Great Plains Corporation, which manages many assets throughout Africa.
The term “Mara Nyika” means “great plains” because the camp is surrounded by the Mara Plains. You can reach the camp by road or air transport, which takes around 5-6 hours (250 kilometers) from Nairobi’s city center to Masaai Mara National Park, or an hour to fly from Nairobi to a nearby airport and then a few minutes’ drive to the camp. The camp is ideal for safari adventurers and tourists looking to see the park’s spectacular views of the Mara Plains, wildlife, and neighboring surroundings. Mara Nyika camp has only 5 spacious and pleasant tented suites overlooking the gorgeous Mara Plains, all of which are built in traditional traditions. Each tent is nicely elevated, decorated, and furnished with en-suite facilities such as clean private flush toilets, safari style hot and cold showers, dressing mirrors, mosquito nets, televisions, air conditioning, deck chairs, work decks, wooden tables, free bottled water in the tents, and many other amenities.
Each tent features a living room, private verandas, and a vanity deck that provide a better view of the Mara plains and the wildlife that roams the camp and neighboring areas. Tents are furnished with comfortable, clean bedding, including queen-sized beds. The camp has fires where guests can relax and swap safari stories; they also provide warmth for visitors on cold nights. The camp has tents appropriate for families and individuals, with single beds, double beds, twin for sharing, and triple beds. They cost $300 per night or more, and the high season rate is always more than the low season rate.
