Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara safari.
On the first day of the safari, your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris, will pick you either from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or from your hotel in Nairobi and welcome you about the 5 days Maasai Mara and Serengeti safari. And you will embark on your journey to Maasai Mara, along the way you will attracted by the Great Rift Valley, a geographical wonder that stretches from the Lebanon to Mozambique and it offers the breathtaking views of the valley floor and the surrounding escarpments, you will as through the town of Narok, a bustling commercial center that’s home to the Maasai people and offers a glimpse into their traditional way of life. Continuing on, you will drive through the Maasai Mara’s ‘’transit’’ area, where you may catch glimpses of the wildlife like giraffes, zebras, antelopes and many others, before even reaching the reserve’s gates.
The scenic drive which takes you around 5 to 6 hours, offers a unique blend of cultural and natural attractions that serve as a precursor to the incredible wildlife experiences that await you in the Maasai Mara. Once you arrive in the Masai Mara, proceed to check-in at your lodge. You will then go for a late afternoon game drive in which you will expect to see various animals including the big five mammals that includes the Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Buffalos, buffaloes and other plain’s game like the cheetahs and various bird species. After the game drive you will return back to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 2: Full Day at Masai Mara game reserve.
On the 2nd of the safari, wake up early in the morning and be served with a hearty breakfast, after you will meet your safari guide and go in the reserve for the morning game drive, this is where you are going to experience and witness abundant of the wildlife in the reserve. You will explore the Mara River where you will spot diverse numbers of the crocodiles, hippos and other aquatic animals can be spotted, as well as Talek area known for its abundant numbers of lions, cheetahs. Other best spot areas in the reserve includes Sekenani and Sand River area, which are the prime habitats for the leopards, elephants and giraffes and among others. After the morning game drive you will be transferred back to your lodge and be served with lunch.
After lunch, you will meet your safari guide and transfer back to the reserve to do an afternoon game drive, this is where you will spot diverse numbers of animals that you missed during the morning game drive. During the afternoon game drive you will see diverse wildlife around the Oloololo Escarpment that offers the stunning backdrop for spotting elephants, giraffes, antelopes, and others, the Mara Triangle offers you the wonderful hotspot for the big cats like the lions, cheetahs, you as can well explore around the Musiara swamp a favorite haunt of hippos, crocodiles and a variety of the birdlife thus providing endless opportunities for exciting wildlife encounters. After the afternoon game drive you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer from Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park.
On the 3rd of the safari, wake up early in the morning and be served with breakfast, after the breakfast you will checkout from your lodge, and meet your safari guide for the transfer to Serengeti National Park. As you embark on the journey from Maasai Mara National Reserve you will pass through a diverse range of landscapes and attractions that offer an experience into the rich cultural and natural heritage of Tanzania and Kenya. Departing from Maasai Mara you will initially drive through the rolling hills and grasslands of the Mara ecosystem, before crossing into Tanzania at the Isebenia-Sirari border. From there you will drive through the town of Tarime, a bustling commercial center that’s is a home to the Sukuma people, you will proceed with your journey through the Grumeti Game reserve, that is a home of the elephants, giraffes, antelopes and others.
The drive from Maasai Mara to Serengeti is about 4 to 5 hours. And once you arrive the park, you will be transferred to your lodge, check on and be served with lunch. After the lunch you will be transferred to the park for the afternoon game drive; where you will spot various numbers like lions, leopards, cheetahs around the Seronera Valley which is a wildlife hub. The Kopjes a series of granite outcrops that provide a vantage point for spotting predators and prey, and the endless plains a seemingly boundless expanse of grasslands that are home to the massive herds of wildebeests, zebras and antelopes offers breathtaking views and the unforgettable wildlife encounters. After the experience you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 4: Full day at the Serengeti National Park.
On the 4th day of the safari, wake up be served with breakfast, After your early breakfast, meet your safari guide and go for a morning game drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which twists into the plains south of the Seronera River, some of the wildlife to look out for in this section include the Lions, Thomson gazelles, topis, ostriches and cheetahs. After your game drive, you will proceed to the Visitor Centre which is close to the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites. The Centre offers some interesting wildlife displays as well as a gift shop selling information leaflets and maps of the area. The shop also as refreshment, and that’s where you shall have your lunch served.
After being served with lunch, you will drive through the Kopjes Circuit, which goes anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, this circuit is known for having a number of lions and some very large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. The Kopjes are good hunting grounds for lions especially in dry seasons when most wildlife come to drink up. After the experience you will back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Serengeti to Arusha.
On the last day of safari, wake up early in the morning and be served a cup of coffee, you will meet your Tanzania safari guide for a morning game drive where you will encounter nocturnal most of the animals returning from hunting and lions awaking in the dawn. The big cats are found of pouncing and killing their prey before it gets hot, the morning game drives lasts between 2-3 hours and there after head back to the Lodge or Camp for late breakfast. You will check out from your lodge and begin your journey back to Arusha, along the way you will have enroute lunch and once you arrive in Arusha you will be dropped at your place of convenience that is either at the airport or hotel in Arusha that make your safari come to the end.
