Days 1-2: Arrival in Namibia

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your safari guide who will assist you with the transfer to the Namib Desert. After traversing the rolling hills south of Windhoek, we will make our way down the escarpment towards the arid plains and pause at Solitaire to enjoy what is said to be the best apple tart in the world (own expense). This afternoon, we will head to our lodge and immerse ourselves in the vast desert scenery of the Namib Desert. We will visit Namib Naukluft National Park the next day to experience the stunning views of Deadvlei and Sossusvlei. The sporadic flooding of the Tsauchab River results in the formation of clay basins referred to as vleis. Old Camel Thorn trees (Acacia erioloba) are dispersed across Sossusvlei, while the trees in Deadvlei stand lifeless and stark against the towering orange sand dunes that surround them.

Day 3 : Transfer to Swakopmund

The cool sea breezes will provide a refreshing break from the scorching desert days, as Swakopmund is situated along the Atlantic coast. The settlement is positioned close to the mouth of the Swakop River, which flows intermittently and acts as the northern limit of the ongoing movement of the sand dunes to the north. While flying down the Skeleton Coast, you can witness breathtaking desert scenery on optional scenic flights departing from Swakopmund (at your own expense).

Days 4-5: Brandberg Mountain

We will journey inland to the Brandberg, a striking granite formation located within the Tsiseb Conservancy. Rising to over 2,600m, it commands attention over the surrounding lowlands and is visible from great distances. At the base of the mountain, one can discover over 1000 rock shelters and approximately 45,000 rock paintings, among which is the famous “White Lady” located in the Tsisab Ravine. The journey up the old watercourse takes just 40 minutes.

Days 6 to 8: Discover Etosha National Park

Etosha’s salt pan is the remnant of an expansive lake that evaporated thousands of years ago. Referred to as the “Great White Place,” it spans 120 km in width. The park’s primary attraction is highlighted by this feature. The wildlife in this typically arid region thrives thanks to the natural springs and waterholes scattered along the edges. Stunning photographs can be captured of elephants adorned with the white salt dust from the pan. We have the opportunity to observe the nocturnal animals that frequent the waterhole near our camp, such as the rare black rhino, lion, and potentially a leopard. As we sit by the waterhole, a sense of anticipation fills the air, promising a delightful evening ahead.

Day 9: Kavango River

As we journey northeast, we will make our way into the Caprivi Strip. Our inn is situated by the banks of the Kavango River, which begins in Angola, flows through the Caprivi, and sustains the Okavango Delta. There are excellent opportunities for bird watching.

Day 10-11: Explore the Okavango Delta

We will embark on a morning wildlife drive at the Mahango Wildlife Reserve in our tour vehicle, followed by crossing into Botswana at the Mohembo border and proceeding south to our lodge. We will travel from our rustic accommodation to the Okavango using a mokoro and a motorboat. Delight in serene rivers adorned with reeds, stunning waters, and an array of birds. Now is the moment to pause, relax, and appreciate the beauty of the Okavango Delta.

Day 12: Caprivi

We will travel through the Caprivi Strip and return to Namibia. In 1890, a small area of territory was taken by the German colony in South West Africa, granting access to the mighty Zambezi River and a trade route to the eastern coast of the African continent, ultimately leading to German Tanganyika (now Tanzania). The area, abundant with games, will be discovered during a relaxed afternoon boat tour.

Day 13 : Transfer to Kasane

We will traverse the Caprivi, cross into Botswana at the Ngoma border, and then journey through Chobe National Park to the quaint town of Kasane. The Chobe River attracts a wide variety of wildlife. Our afternoon excursion offers a splendid experience on the Chobe River, where we will navigate into the park by boat and observe the elephants as they drink. We will leave the park as the golden sun starts to dip below the horizon.

Day 14: Discover Victoria Falls

The Zambezi River begins in Zambia, traverses Angola, Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, and then cascades 100 meters down the stunning Victoria Falls. The dense jungle surrounding the falls thrives on the mist that ascends from the gorge. We will explore the national park alongside our local guides, making our way to the brink of the falls to experience the immense power of the water that created this breathtaking view.

Day 15: Departure

On this day, you will rise early in the morning to enjoy a delightful breakfast, after which your guide will take you to your hotel or the airport.
