Gisakura Guest House is located in Rwanda’s south-west, Nyamasheke district, near the Gisakura settlement in the western portion of Nyungwe National Park. It is only a few meters from the edge of Nyungwe National Park, but it is self-contained within Nyungwe’s broken forest. It is merely a 23-kilometer journey to the neighboring town of Kamembe in the Rusizi district. Gisakura Guest House’s main clients are those visiting Nyungwe, primarily for Cyamudongo chumps trekking.

Gisakura Guest House is similar to One & Only Nyungwe House and Nyungwe Top View in that they are all located in the same area. Although they do not provide pick-up services, you cannot approach the guest house by helicopter because there is no helicopter landing area, like there is at the One and Only Nyungwe House.

The Nyungwe Gisakura guest home is accessible via various modes of transportation, including air and road. You will first arrive in Rwanda at Kigali International Airport via any airline, as many of them travel to Rwanda multiple times per week. Such airlines come from all over the world, including European, African, Asian, and American countries.

Rwand Air also offers daily flights from Kigali to Kamembe, which takes only 35 minutes. Then you can pay a tax to transfer to the Gisakura guest house. It must be organized by you or your tour company, whichever is preferable, and it takes 45 minutes to drive from Kamembe Airport to Nyungwe Gisakura Guest House.

To get to Gisakura Guest House by road, you have two choices. The first route will take you from Kigali through Kamonyi district, Muhanga, Nyanza, which is the basement of the Rwandan cultural and king’s palace museum, and then to Butare, where the ethnographic museum is located, and then through Nyamgabe district in the high mountains and through Nyugwe forest for an hour and a half to Gisakura guest house, where you will see signs confirming the location.

The second option will take you from Kigali to Kamonyi district, Muhanga, and then to Karongi, a resort town with a better view of Lake Kivu as the road passes onshore until you reach Nyamasheke district, where the lodge is located. You will arrive in Buhinga center in Nyamasheke, then take the left side of the main road and in five minutes you will be in Gisakura centre. You will not turn to any side, but will continue driving until you reach the gate of the guest house, which is around 150 meters from the center. Visit Nyungwe National Park and enjoy your safari while relaxing and cooling down at Gisakura Guest House.
