Detailed Itinerary of 15 Day Kenya Safari and Rwanda Golden Monkey Safari
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Maasai Mara
Your safari adventure begins with pick up from your hotel in Nairobi or at the airport upon arrival by a (your driver-guide). After a short briefing about the safari and what to expect, you will embark on a journey to Maasai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy the lovely scenery along the way, with a lunch break en-route.
When you arrive in Maasai Mara, check in at your lodge for freshening up and short rest. Later go for an evening game drive to see some animals that Maasai Mara is famous for including wildebeests, lions, leopards, cheetahs among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full Day in Maasai Mara
Start your day with breakfast, followed by a full day game drive in the endless plains of Maasai Mara. The reserve hosts a large concentration of wildlife species, including the Big Five (lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, elephants and rhinos). Spend the whole day touring the endless plains with picnic lunch along the Mara River, presenting opportunity to see several animals including wildebeests, gazelles, rhinos, cheetahs, African wild dogs, several species of antelopes and birds.
Continue exploring the reserve till evening discovering more of Maasai Mara’s rich biodiversity. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park
Have early breakfast and head to the Maasai Village for a cultural experience, dance and interact with the Maasai people and learn more about their day to the life, their traditions and customs among others.
Proceed on a journey to Lake Nakuru National Park, a birder’s haven and home to the largest concentration of Rothschild Giraffe and black and white rhinos. When you arrive in the park, you will enjoy lunch at your lodge, later in the day you will go for an evening game drive exploring the park and see several animals and birds on the shores of Lake Nakuru.

Day 4: Full Day in Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, head to Lake Nakuru for a morning boat ride in search of hippos, crocodiles and several bird species including fish eagle. After enjoying lunch, you will proceed to the park for an afternoon game drives.
Lake Nakuru National Park stretching over an area of 180 sq km is home to warthogs, Rothschild giraffes, waterbucks, buffaloes, white and black rhinos and over 400 species of birds including large concentrations of flamingoes on Lake Nakuru forming a pink plumage over the shores. At sunset, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Amboseli National Park
After early breakfast, leave Lake Nakuru to Amboseli National Park enjoying sight of the changing landscapes and a stop for lunch. Arrive in the park in the afternoon, check in at your lodge and if time allows, you will go for a short game drive in the beautiful savannah landscape of Amboseli crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro and its snow-capped summit.

Day 6: Full Day in Amboseli National Park
Enjoy a full day of game viewing in Amboseli National Park, the second population National Park in Kenya. Amboseli is famous for hosting the largest herds of elephants in Kenya and its scenic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro with its snow-capped summit.
The full day game drive gives you a chance to explore the park and enjoy excellent sighting of the park’s iconic wildlife species including lions, cheetahs, rhinos, leopards, buffaloes, large herds of elephants, warthogs, and several bird species. Enjoy picnic lunch and continue exploring the park till evening, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Nairobi
After a final morning game drives in Amboseli, we depart for Nairobi City arriving in the afternoon. Your guide will drop you off at the hotel to freshen you before heading out for dinner and the famous Carnivore Restaurant for dinner.

Day 8: Fly To Kigali
Depending on your flight schedule, you will be picked up by your driver-guide and transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for a flight to Rwanda’s Kigali International Airport. Upon arrival, you will be picked up by Africa Vacation Rwanda Guide and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali.

Day 9: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast you will go for a Kigali City Tour visiting Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide, learn about other genocides in the world and how the country has dealt with that past, visit several Craft centres and the local market and several new developments.
After lunch, you will embark on a journey to Volcanoes National Park through the beautiful rolling hills Rwanda is known for. Arrive in the late afternoon, check in at your lodge and spend the evening at rest, have dinner and overnight stay at Bisate Lodge

Day 10: Golden Monkey Trekking
After early breakfast, depart from your lodge with your guide to the Park Headquarters in Kinigi. Have a short briefing about golden monkey trekking from your designated golden monkey guide, after registration you will head into the forests looking for these beautiful primates found in the bamboo forests of the park.
The trek takes about 3- to 4 hours or more of following these playful monkeys with one of staying in their presence watching them collect bamboo shoots, feed, play and take as many photos as possible. Trek back to your lodge and for lunch, spend the afternoon at leisure or visit the Ib’iwacu Cultural Village for a cultural experience.

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Kivu

Today is a leisurely day which you will spend enjoying the beauty of Lake Kivu. Return for lunch and spend the afternoon at rest on the lake’s beach or your hotel’s swimming pool.

Day 13: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Have breakfast at the hotel, check out and drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, along the way you will have a visit to the Nyanza Kings Palace and the Huye Ethnographic Museum. Enjoy en-route lunch and proceed to your lodge for check-in, spend the evening at rest.

Day 14: Chimpanzee Trekking
Wake up very early for breakfast and head to the park as early as 4.30 am. Join other trekkers at the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of the chimpanzees. With armed ranger and guides, head into the forests searching for a chimpanzee troop assigned to you, the whole experience takes about 3-6 hours or more with one hour of being with the chimpanzees, witness how they live their life, their family dynamics, play, groom their young ones and take pictures.
Return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, return to the park for a canopy walk on a high suspended metal walk above the Nyungwe Forest Canopy. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 15: Departure
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, check out of the lodge and depart for Kigali where your guide will drop you off at the airport for your flight back home bringing your Kenya and Rwanda Combined Tour to an end.
