3 Days Big 5 & Kigali City Tour : Akagera National Park is one of East Africa’s top safari destinations, offering the opportunity to see a wide variety of bird species at close quarters, along with the leopards, elephants, lions and buffalo, toppi. It is also a scenic park, set on rolling green hills that lead down to a labyrinth of lakes where boat cruises take place. The tour will start off on a high note with a tour of Kigali City, East Africa’s cleanest city. Among the major attractions you will visit is the genocide museum which was established in honour of the 800,000 people who lost their lives during the 1994 massacre.
Day 1. Kigali City Tour
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will find our driver guide ready to pick you up for a well-organized full day city tour.
Later in the day, you will set off for a three hours’ drive to Akagera National Park
Day 2: Morning Game drive and afternoon boat cruise
This excursion will give you a firsthand experience of how the park’s eco-system thrives. Thanks to the reintroduction of lions and rhinos, Akagera is now considered a fully-fledged Big 5 destination. Apart from leopards, elephants and buffalos, other animals you are likely to come across include giraffes, zebras and toppi. All cars in our fleet have pop up roofs. This enables one to have unobstructed views of wildlife. To stand better chances of seeing the cats, be vigilant when looking at the golden brown savannah. It is perfect for camouflage.
At noon, you will return to your lodge for a delightful lunch experience and after retire to your room or swimming as you relax.
In the evening, you will have a boat cruise at Lake Ihema. It provides a laidback way of viewing most of the wildlife you didn’t register luck in finding, including thousands of nesting white egrets, cormorants, kingfishers and darters, along with various herons. If you are crazy about stunning sunsets, don’t forget to carry an extra battery for your camera. You will be blown away by the sight of the golden sun as it buries itself over the horizon.
Day 3. Last morning game drive and drive to Kigali International Airport ahead of your departure.
Today, you will wake up at leisure, hopefully by 9am. After having a brunch, you will set for your return journey to Kigali International Airport and arrive in time for your flight. Thanks for entrusting us with organizing your visit to Rwanda.
