Day1: Departure from Kigali city for Nyungwe Forest National Park
Have breakfast from your hotel of residence and thereafter meet our driver/guide. Thereafter, you will be transferred to Nyungwe forest with an optional en-route stop at the Rwanda genocide memorials. It showcases key moments of the horrific 1994 massacre that occurred in Rwanda, claiming over 800,000 lives. Here, you will truly appreciate just how far the country has come. In an effort to avoid the reoccurrence of such a horrific past, the government has spent over 20 years striving for unity and reconciliation among its people. Nowadays, there are no ‘Hutus’ or ‘Tutsis’, everyone is Rwandan.
Lunch en-route and after transfer to the forest and dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge/Nyungwe Hill Top Lodge/Gisakura Guest House. Meal plan: H/B
Day2: Rwanda Chimpanzee Tour-Canopy Walks
Have breakfast, after you will be transferred to the park head offices for briefing about the primates and the forest as well. Having been habituated for over two years before being opened for visits by tourists, the chimpanzees aren’t violent. However, just like humans, they also experience high and low moments. In case your visit coincides with a day when they are moody, the rangers will calm them down by speaking to them in telepathy, humming and vocalizations.
The experience takes 4-5 hours and after return to the lodge for lunch, then in the evening takes the canopy walk for the closer view of the canopies, primates, bird life, butterflies among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight, Meal plan: F/B
Day3: Nyungwe Forest-Kigali
Have breakfast, after embark the safari jeep and transfer back to Kigali with lunch en-route, then after travel to the Kigali international airport for your return flight. Safe Journey!
