Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
On the first day of the safari your safari guide for your safari representative of our company African Vacation Safaris will pick you up from Kigali International Airport or from your hotel in Kigali city. Your safari guide will welcome you and give you a briefing about the safari. After the briefing you will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park to your hotel for lunch and then relaxation. After lunch you will meet your safari guide and engage in the community walks that’s is when you will see the Rwandese carrying out their daily activities, through visiting the surrounding number of the tea plantations and then see them doing their farming and very many other activities that is such as stunning. After the experience you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking.
On the 2nd day of the safari, you will wake up early in the morning and enjoy the hearty breakfast. After breakfast you will meet your safari guide together with your packed lunch and go for the gorilla trekking experience. You will be transferred to the park headquarters to the Kinigi reception area where you will receive the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking at 7:00am. After the briefing you will be grouped in different groups of 8 people per group each group will be led by the experienced guides that are well familiar with the trekking trails, then be transferred to hike the Virunga Mountain to look for the mountain gorillas with the experienced guides and rangers. Gorilla trekking takes from about 2 hours to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas’ because these creatures do move around looking for the food and good shelter.
During mountain gorilla trekking you will be attracted by the various biodiversity attractions like the various bird species like African Rwenzori, double collared sunbird, Ruwenzori turaco, eagle handsome Francolin, and others, and you will spot other primates like red tailed monkeys, silver monkeys and among many others, you will spot various plant species, tree species and among others. And when you find the mountain gorillas you will be given a period of one hour to be in the presence of the gorillas that is watching the gorillas feeding, female gorillas grooming their young ones, and among others, like taking their pictures and recording their videos though using cameras with the less flash cameras because the flash disrupts the gorillas. After the experience you will be transferred back to the starting point to where you will be rewarded with the gorilla trekking certificates for taking part in gorilla trekking. After the experience you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 3: Dian Fossey safari.
On the 3rd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy your hearty breakfast. After breakfast you will meet your safari guide and go for the Dian Fossey safari. Dian Fossey safari is a unique and poignant experience that pays tribute to the life and legacy of the renowned primatologist Dian Fossey, who dedicated her life to the conservation of the Rwanda’s wonderful mountain gorillas. This safari takes you to the Karisoke research center. Fossey’s former research base, and the Dian Fossey Grave, where she was buried, that offers a glimpse into her tireless conservation and the impact of her work on the gorilla conservation. With the expert guides you will learn about the Fossey’s groundbreaking research, her passionate advocacy for the gorilla conservation, and the tragic circumstances of her death, while also experiencing the breathtaking beauty of the Virunga Mountains and the majestic presence of the mountain gorillas that Fossey devoted her life to protecting. After the experience you will be transferred to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Departure.
On the last day of the safari, get up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast, check out from your lodge and meet your safari guide and depart to Kigali with the impressive views of the landscape if you have time you can explore Kigali city tour to spot the popular destinations in the city with lunch. After lunch you will be transferred to your convenient place that is either to your hotel in Kigali or to Kigali International Airport that will make your safari come to the end.
