DETAILED ITINERARY   

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Nyungwe forest

Arrive at Kigali international airport and meet our safari guide who will brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will embark on a scenic drive through Rwanda’s picturesque countryside to Nyungwe forest. You will have a stopover at Nyanza kings palace or Butare national museum for a cultural immersion. On arrival, you will check in the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk

Early in the morning after breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter into the forest in search of the chimpanzees with the help of the park rangers. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour with them as you learn their feeding patterns, groom their young ones and how they relate with each other in their natural habitat. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will go for a canopy walk and this offers amazing views of the beautiful forest. While on the canopy walk, you will spot wildlife species, primates such as monkeys and chimpanzees jumping form one tree to another and bird species. After the canopy walk, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to volcanoes national park and Visit Ellen DeGeneres

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to volcanoes national park. On arrival at the lodge, you will check in the lodge, freshen up and have lunch.

In the afternoon, visit Ellen DeGeneres of the Dian Fossey Gorilla fund where you will have an insight into gorilla conservation efforts and the impactful work being done to protect the gorillas. After the visit, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park

In the early morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, head into the forest in search of the majestic gorillas with the help of the park rangers. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you learn more about them. After the gorilla trekking experience, you will be awarded a certificate of participation at the park headquarters. After, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Golden monkey trekking and visit to Ibyiwacu cultural village

After breakfast, the driver guide will take you to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the golden monkeys. Once they are located, you will spend an hour with them as you get to know their behaviours. After the golden monkey trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Ibyiwacu cultural village to learn about Rwanda’s cultural practices and traditions. You will meet local communities, watch traditional dances and learn ancient customs. After the visit, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Kigali and departure

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival, you will have a city tour where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial, local craft markets and kimironko market for souvenirs. After, you will be dropped at Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
