The infinity swimming pool overlooks the waterhole and is ideal for animal viewing while cooling down on a hot African summer afternoon. Guests can dine alfresco in the traditional open-air boma (a brick and grass-enclosed dining area) while listening to the sounds of Africa’s wildlife. Gourmet cuisine is the order of the day. Arathusa’s Safari Spa provides guests with a comprehensive spa and wellness experience, allowing them to indulge in sumptuous treatment and relaxation while answering the call of the wild.

Arathusa Safari Lodge is a cozy and welcoming camp with nine thatched-roofed basic rooms. Each accommodation features an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub, a shower, and an outdoor shower. The verandah provides a peaceful view of the neighboring veld. Twin rooms can also be arranged.

The combination of natural textiles and classic interior design results in a basic yet elegant experience. A mini bar (supplied with a variety of beverages), an electronic safe, hairdryer, air conditioning, a direct-dial telephone, a mosquito net, and tea/coffee making facilities are also available. Arathusa’s rooms do not have televisions in order to maintain a classic and natural safari experience. Guests, however, can send and receive e-mails and faxes from the reception area.

Arathusa’s four luxury rooms include all of the comfort and facilities of our standard rooms, plus their own plunge pools and sitting areas. These premium rooms are placed further away from the main camp to provide guests more privacy.

The Arathusa Safari Lodge includes eight water-facing suites, all of which are located in the lodge’s main area. All of the water-facing suites are attractively designed, with unique interiors and stunning lighting. Each apartment offers a stunning view of the waterhole. The rooms have en suite bathrooms with both outdoor and indoor showers. The suites also include private verandahs from where visitors may enjoy breathtaking views of the waterhole and the surrounding beauty of Mpumalanga. Arathusa does not provide televisions in the rooms to encourage guests to enjoy natural sights; however, Wi-Fi is provided in the rooms as well as other areas of the lodge.

In addition, there are four bush-facing suites set distant from the lodge. Each bush-facing suite has its own plunge pool and verandah, providing visitors with seclusion in the untamed countryside. Each property also has a sitting room within the spacious open-plan flat, as well as an indoor and outdoor shower.

Activities at Arathusa Safari Lodge

Game drives

Every day, game drives in an open safari vehicle are undertaken in the early morning and late afternoon to search for animals of various sizes. Experienced, competent, and personable rangers are coupled with local trackers to provide a first-class South Africa safari experience. Trackers sit at the front of the car, looking for new animal tracks, while rangers expertly navigate ravines and thickets in search of spectacular wildlife sightings.

Close interactions are guaranteed, and our presence poses no threat to the animals due to our solid conservation management procedures. Expect unique photographic possibilities of The Big Five and much more, including over 300 bird species. A delight for avid birds! Guided walks with an armed ranger can also be scheduled. During the summer months, walks are typically scheduled in the early hours, when temperatures are more reasonable. Walking through the bush provides a one-of-a-kind and distinct perspective.
