Saseka Tented Camp, located on a bend of the seasonal Monwana River, is one of the most popular luxury safari resorts in the Greater Kruger Park area. The camp, designed by legendary design pair Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, is a brilliant blend of historical South African safari flair and modern 21st-century design.

Each tented room is a recreation of tents established by early settlers during the 1800s Gold Rush, but with far greater privacy and luxury. You will enjoy your own outdoor shower, plunge pool, and a large game-viewing terrace overlooking the riverbed.

The interior is calm and tranquil, with tones of sage, grey, apple, and dusty pink echoing the outdoors, and the trademark blend of old and new is ingeniously integrated into every design detail. Steel frames contrast with traditional rattan and riempie furniture, ball-and-claw tables sit next to leather headboards, and Armani-grey mosquito nets drape over white bedlinen. Soft draped ceilings are covered with botanical pressings of the Lowveld’s indigenous flora, creating a stunning and unique look.

Saseka’s main area is a raised deck with tiered levels where visitors can congregate for drinks and meals. An incredible ceiling filters shadow and light as if you were sitting in the dappled shade of a tree, with a stone water feature trickling in the backdrop.

Tented Suites

The nine tented suites, which provide elevated views of the riverbed, are extremely roomy safari tents. Glass doors lead out into your own expansive private deck and pool, replete with sun loungers and chairs. In a hidden nook, there is also an outdoor shower with bush views.

Attention to detail can be seen everywhere; for example, the fabric of the inside canvas, made particularly for Saseka and including images of all the region’s plants from the Pretoria herbarium.
