Day 1: Fly from Zanzibar to Selous Game Reserve
Wake up early for breakfast as you get ready, your driver from African Vacation Safaris will pick you up for a transfer to Abeid Amani Airport for a domestic flight to Nyerere National Park (formerly known as Selous Game Reserve).
On arrival at Mtemere Airstrip, you will be warmly welcomed by a professional African Vacation Safaris Driver-Guide and transfer to you to the local village for a walking tour where you will learn about their culture. Later head to your lodge for lunch and relaxation, in the afternoon you will head to Rufiji River for a boat safari, the biggest and longest river in Tanzania approximately 600 kilometers. As you glide on the river you will see hippos, river cliffs and several bird species. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2-3: Full Day in Nyerere National Park
Today you will discver the jungle, savanna and river side of the vast Nyerere National Park, an amazing place for game drives. The park boasts abundant wildlife including crocodiles, lions, leopards, giraffes and the endangered rhinos, the rare African wild dog and more among others.
You will also get a chance to visit a beautiful hotspring – The Beho Beho Hot Springs and even go swimming, however this depends on the accessibility of the road to the location, during the rainy season there will be mud on the road.
You will spend the whole day exploring this vast park with en-route lunch, till evening. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Full Day Boat Safari on Rufiji River
Enjoy a breakfast at your lodge and head to Rufiji River for a full day experience. Rufiji River is the largest river in Tanzania, as you glide beneath the palms, along the river’s banks, spotting the rich aquatic life of hippos and crocodiles in the waters, baboons and monkeys in the tree. You will also enjoy sight of colorful bird species including kingfisher, heron, eagles, storks, vultures and the pink-backed pelican.
Rufiji River being the main source of water for Nyerere’s thirsty wildlife, you will also enjoy sight of giraffes, antelopes, buffaloes, zebras and sometimes herds of elephants. In the afternoon you will enjoy picnic lunch, then continue with the boat safari until sunset. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Bush Walking Safari – Fly Back to Zanzibar
