Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Ngorongoro Crater.
On the 1st day of the safari, your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris will either pick you up from your hotel in Arusha or from Arusha Airport. He will brief you and introduce you about the 2 days Ngorongoro crater safari. After the briefing you will begin with your journey to Ngorongoro. The drive begins on the smooth tarmac roads of Arusha as pass through the town’s outskirts and into the surrounding countryside, where you will catch the views of the rural life, with farmers tending of their fields and local markets selling fresh produce.
As you continue west, the landscape shifts, and you will enter the Ngorongoro Highlands, a region of breathtaking beauty, with towering mountains, valleys and the sparkling lakes including Lake Manyara, which glimmers in the distance. The road winds its way through the bustling town of Karatu, before finally descending into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the attractive Ngorongoro Crater welcomes you, its stunning scenery and incredible wildlife.
Once you arrive you enjoy lunch, and after lunch you will descend down to the crater for the massive game drive where you will search for the stunning big five mammals that includes the elephants, lions, buffaloes, rhinos, and leopards and among many others like the wide variety of birdlife. After the experience you will be transferred back to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 2: Morning game drive and departure.
On the 2nd day of the safari, get up early in the morning and be served with a hearty breakfast. After the breakfast you will check out from your lodge with your packed lunch, and then meet your safari guide and get ready to go for the morning game drive. During the morning game drive, as you descend into the crater, the misty veil of the morning lifts, revealing a breathtaking landscape this is where you will spot the animal species that you missed during the previous game drive and a variety of the bird species that will make a truly unforgettable and exhilarating morning game drive experience.
After the experience you will go for the cultural visits before leaving the area. This experience will take you to the local Maasai people who have lived in harmony with the land and the wildlife for centuries, you will explore the Maasai villages, known as ‘’bomas’’ where you can learn about the tribe’s rich cultural heritage, including their customs, traditions and beliefs. The Maasai people warmly welcome visitors sharing their stories, music and dance and offering information into their daily lives, including their livestock herding practices and their unique medicinal plant knowledge.
Though this experience tourists can gain understanding of the local culture and contribute to the conservation of the area’s natural and cultural resources. After the experience you will drive back to Arusha with the beautiful views of the landscape, once upon you arrive in Arusha you will be dropped either to your hotel in Arusha or to Arusha Airport for your flight back home. That will make your safari come to the end.
