Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at your hotel in Arusha or upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be picked up by a representative of African Vacations Safari are embark on a journey of 120km to Tarangire National Park, an iconic Tanzania National Park covering 2,850 square kilometers.

Enjoy picnic lunch there after continue with afternoon game viewing in Tarangire National Park, home to lion, leopard, elephant, cape buffalo, python, zebras, oryx, impalas and more. The park is home to over 450 species of birds, so for bird enthusiasts you are in for a retreat.

Day 2-3: Serengeti National Park

Today, we drive to the famous Serengeti National Park – home of the Great Wildebeest Migration and the Big Five. This exciting drive takes you through the Ngorongoro Highlands providing a spectacular bird’s eye view of the Ngorongoro Crater. As you crest the hillside, as far as the eye can see, the vast expanse of Serengeti’s 6,900 sq mil spreading out before you.

Serengeti National Park is defined as “endless plains” in Kiswahili, is home to more  than two million large animals including more than two million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of plain zebras, and Thomson’s gazelle and large predators including lion, cheetah and hyena are drawn to the area by the abundance of prey which migrate throughout the park. There are also smaller animals like rock African hare, with nearly 500 species of birds inhabiting the area.

Day 4: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive in Serengeti plains on your way to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way you will have lunch and a stop at the famous Oldupai Gorge, where Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey made their discovery of the first man that walked the earth. After a short lecture describing the archeological digs and geology of the gorge, you will have time to visit the small Olduvai Museum. Continue to Ngorongoro Crater rim for check in at your lodge for an evening of rest, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

Wake up early for breakfast then head to Ngorongoro Crater as early as 06:30, descend into the 260 km² crater floor – home to abundant elephants, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas, prides of lions around the hippo pool and flocks of flamingoes on the shores of Lake Magadi in the corner of the crater.

After a five-hour drive and picnic lunch in the caldera, climb back up and journey to Arusha, arriving by early evening for drop-off at your hotel or airport bringing your Tanzania Safari to an end.
