Detailed itinerary of 11 Day Tanzania and Zanzibar Safari
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Tarangire National Park
To mark the start of your adventure, you will be picked up by our African Vacation Safaris Driver-Guide and embark on a 2 hours drive southwest of Arusha to Tarangire National Park. Enjoy some beautiful scenery along the way arriving in the park in time for lunch at your lodge.
Tarangire National Park is a stunning park, off the beaten safari track known for its large herds of elephants. Covering an area of 2,850 square kilometers, the park is named after the Tarangire River, the main source of water to the entire ecosystem and during the dry season, large number of animals including zebras, wildebeests, elands, buffaloes among others congregate along the river to drink water. You will be in position to see these animals and after the game drive, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: transfer to Lake Manyara National Park
Enjoy breakfast and transfer to Lake Manyara National Park for a game viewing experience. This small but beautiful park is famous for hosting the rare tree climbing lions and several other wildlife species including elephants, buffaloes, zebras and several species of antelopes which you will see from the comfort of your vehicle.
You will enjoy picnic lunch and continue exploring the park, you will also visit the beautiful Lake Manyara where you will see large flocks of flamingoes. In the evening, you will head to your lodge for check in, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, depart towards Serengeti National Park – the most famous national park in the world. The drive to the park itself is spectacular as you will be treated to scenic views of the changing landscape, Serengeti is home of the Great Migration in which over 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles are seen during their annual journey in search for water and green pasture.
Enjoy picnic lunch when you arrive in the park and go for an afternoon game drive exploring the endless savannah plains till evening.

Day 4,5: Full day in Serengeti National Park
You will have two full day exploring Serengeti National Park. Note that we are completely flexible with your preferences and these two days will be organized according to your wishes. You will rise early and head to the park for an encounter with animals on game drives around the endless plains of Serengeti with picnic lunch served at one of the picnic sites. You will see different wildlife species like lions, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, wildebeests, antelopes, hippos, waterbucks and many more. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater
Enjoy breakfast and leave for Ngorongoro Crater with a drive through the Serengeti Plains,, descend 600meters into Ngorongoro crater floor for a game drive. Ngorongoro Crater, the largest unfilled crater in the world is one of the Seven Natural Wonders in Africa and home to the largest concentration of wildlife on the continent.
During the game drive you will see numerous wildlife species including lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, hyenas, wildebeests, antelopes, cheetahs, zebras, hippos, waterbucks and warthogs among others. Later ascend to the crater rim, head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Eyasi
After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will drive to Lake Eyasi which is about 2 hours away. Here you will join the Hadzabe and Datoga guides and hunters for a traditional hunting experience, learn about their ancient techniques and survival skills.
Enjoy picnic lunch amidst the beautiful scenery of Lake Eyasi. Then go for a visit to the Datoga Tribe, where you will witness their blacksmithing skills and learn about their unique culture and traditions. Later embark on a birding excursion around Lake Eyasi, spot various bird species including flamingoes and pelicans. After enjoying the sunset over Lake Eyasi, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer to Arusha then fly to Zanzibar
After breakfast, you will be collect by your ranger guide and drive back to Arusha where you will be dropped off at Arusha Airport to catch a flight to Zanzibar Island where your African Vacation Safari Zanzibar Driver will be waiting. He will transfer you to your hotel in Stone Town, spend the rest of the day at rest, and have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9-10: Zanzibar
Experience Zanzibar and its magic as you indulge in several activities
- Stone Town Tour – Explore the alleyways of this ancient town as you get to know the history of the island and its different cultures. Visit several sites including The Old Dispensary, The Old Fort, Darajani Bazaar and the Forodhani Market among others.
- Spice Tour – Visit the huge spice plantations of Zanzibar where several spices are grown, you will be welcomed by intoxicating scent of spices like cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg among others. You will get to taste and purchase them.
- Visit the Prison Island – which used to operate as a prison for slaves, here you will enjoy seeing the Giant Tortoises and enjoy snorkeling in the warm blue waters of the Indian Ocean.
- Relaxation on Zanzibar Sand Beaches – spend a day relaxing at the white sand beaches of Zanzibar island and enjoy views of the Indian Ocean.
