Detailed itinerary of 9 Day Best of Tanzania safari and Zanzibar Beaches
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Tarangire National Park
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our African Vacation Safaris representative – your driver guide and drive you to Tarangire National Park, a beautiful park named after the Tarangire River that flows through its savannah plains, providing a vital source of water most specially during the dry season.
Upon arrival in the park, you will enjoy an afternoon game drive seeing large herds of elephants the park is famous for, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, gazelles, leopards and cheetahs among others. In the late afternoon you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Full day in Tarangire
Enjoy breakfast, then go for a full day game viewing in Tarangire National Park with your packed lunch boxes. Ranking as the 6th largest national park in Tanzania, Tarangire National Park covering 2,600 square kilometers is a popular destination for its large elephant herds and mini-wildlife migration that takes place during the dry season.
During the full day game drive, you will see a variety of wildlife including large herds of elephants, elands, buffaloes, giraffes, Bohor reedbuck, Coke’s hartebeests, Thompson’s gazelles, lesser kudu, the unusual gerenuk and fringe-eared Oryx, lions, hyenas, cheetahs among others. Enjoy picnic lunch and continue exploring the park till evening. Check out of your lodge and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Central Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will travel via the cooler highlands towards the southern Serengeti and at midday you will reach the endless plains of Serengeti National Park. The park is the largest protected area in the country and has a diversity of habitats and landscapes, short grass plains, savannah, thick bush, swamps and lakes.
Serengeti National Park is famous for the annual migration when hundreds of thousands of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles trek in search for fresh grass and water.

Day 4: Full day in Central Serengeti National Park
The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in Serengeti National Park in the Central region, this is renowned for hosting high concentration of wildlife including the Big Five and the Great Migration. During the game drive expect to see some of the iconic wildlife species including the Big Five – lion, leopards, zebras, cape buffaloes, gazelles, giraffes and herds of wildebeests on their annual migration journey.
Enjoy lunch at one of the picnic sites and continue exploring the park till evening, later retire to your lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Ngorongoro
Enjoy early breakfast and travel to Ngorongoro Conservation Area then drive into the crater. A massive collapsed volcano, home to over 25,000 mammals ranging from the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard to spotted hyenas and rare wild dogs and over 500 bird species.
After an extensive game drive, you will enjoy picnic lunch and continue exploring the crater till late afternoon. Ascend to the crater rim, head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Lake Manyara
Today starts with breakfast and head to small but beautiful Lake Manyara National Park renowned for the rare tree climbing lions and large flocks of flamingoes on the shores of alkaline Lake Manyara.
On the game drive you will see a variety of wildlife including tree climbing lounging on tree, branches, elephants, zebras, giraffes and visit the alkaline Lake Manyara, a haven for flamingoes and hosts over 400 bird species. You will also spot crocodiles on the shores of the lake, later head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: transfer to Arusha and fly to Zanzibar
After breakfast at your lodge, meet your guide and depart for Arusha to catch your flight to the beautiful islands of Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Abeid Amani International Airport, you will meet our African Vacation safaris and drive you to your hotel in Stone Town for check-in and refreshing. In the evening, you will go for a Stone Town Tour following the trail of the Sultans, slaves and explorers in the winding streets, visit iconic sites such as the former slave market, the House of Wonders and the Sultan’s Palace Museum and learn about the events that have shaped Zanzibar.

Day 8: Explore Zanzibar Beaches
After a delicious breakfast, you will spend time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar. The island offers the world’s most beautiful beaches, soft sandy beaches surrounded by colorful coral reefs and the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean.
There are a number of optional activities you can indulge in today including sunset Dhow Cruise, snorkeling and diving, kayaking, visit the Prison Island and visit to the Jozani Forest.
