Day 1: Arrival, Kigali city tour and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
On the first day of the safari, your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris, will pick you up either from Kigali International Airport or from your hotel in Kigali. After the pickup he will welcome you and belief you about the 4 days safari.
After the briefing session, you will be transferred to participate in Kigali city tour where you will interact with the locals through exploring various interesting sites like Kimironko market the biggest market in Rwanda to where you can buy African fabrics, and then the souvenirs as you interact with the locals for the best experience, you as well visit the Kigali genocide memorial museum where you will get to know the events that led to the unfornate event in Rwanda.
You will later enjoy lunch in Kigali city. After lunch you will begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. The scenic drive takes you through the Kigezi Highlands, offering breathtaking views of the Virunga Mountains and the surrounding countryside. And once you arrive the lodge you will check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural experience.
On the 2nd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast you will carry your lunch, and meet your safari guide to where he will transfer you to the park’s headquarters for the gorilla trekking briefing of the rules and regulations to follow. After the briefing you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas and also conversant with the various gorilla trekking traits.
Gorilla trekking takes a period of about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. During gorilla trekking you will be impressed with the diverse spotting of various biodiversity and once the mountain gorillas are spotted you be given a period of one hour to be in the presence of the gorillas, that is watching them feeding, playing, breastfeeding, mothers grooming their young ones, taking pictures and recording their videos and among others. After the experience, you will be transferred back to the starting point to where you will be will receive the gorilla trekking certificates for taking part in gorilla trekking.
You will later engage in the Batwa cultural experience, this is where the visitors will learn about the traditional way of life of the Batwa people, an indigenous tribe that once inhabited the forest. The experience includes a guided tour to the Batwa community, where the visitors can participate in the traditional activities like hunting, gathering and crafting and learn about the Batwa’s rich cultural heritage and history. After the experience you will be transferred to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
On the 3rd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy your hearty breakfast. After breakfast, you will check out from your lodge and meet your safari guide and get ready to transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Along the way you will have the impressive views of the magnificent eye catching landscapes, with the enroute lunch along the way. After lunch you will proceed with your lunch until you reach lodge, and once you arrive you will check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and departure.
On the 4th day, of the safari wake up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast, check out from your lodge and you will meet your safari guide and you will be transferred at the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing, you will be grouped in various groups of 6 people per group and you will be start your chimpanzee trekking in the forest with the experienced rangers and park guides.
Chimpanzee trekking in the park takes a period from 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzees. And once the chimpanzees are spotted you will be given one hour to be in the presence of the chimpanzees as you watch the chimpanzees jumping from one tree to another, chattering and laughing, feeding, you will take pictures and record their movies.
After the experience, you will be transferred back to Kigali by your safari guide with the perfect views along the way, and upon your arrival you will be transferred back to your hotel in Kigali or to Kigali International Airport to catch your flight back home. That will make your safari come to the end.
