5 days Uganda gorilla and chimp safari is a remarkable primate adventure that takes you deep into Uganda’s beautiful tropical rainforests to experience two of Africa’s most incredible wildlife encounters. This safari combines chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park with the unforgettable mountain gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Uganda, famously known as the ‘’Pearl of Africa’’ is a home to the diverse wildlife, breathtaking scenery, warm hospitality and some of the world’s best primate tracking destinations.
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Kibale National Park.
On the first day of the safari, upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari guide who will brief you about the safari and then start on your scenic journey to Kibale Forest national park that is known as the primate capital of East Africa. The drive takes you through the beautiful countryside landscapes, tea plantations, traditional villages, rolling hills and among others with the en-route lunch along the way. Upon arrival in Kibale, check in your lodge then relax and later dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
After an early breakfast you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing before beginning chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest. After briefing you will enter the forest guided by experienced rangers, and walk through the tropical rainforest searching for the chimpanzees along other primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys and various bird species. Once the chimpanzees are located, spend one hour in their presences watching them feed, communicate, interact with one another.
After one hour return to the lodge for lunch and later transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most famous wildlife parks. Along the way you will enjoy scenic views of crater lakes, Great Rift Valley landscapes. Upon arrival, you will enjoy en-route game viewing experience. Dinner and overnight at your safari lodge.
Day 3: Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
After breakfast, you will transfer for a morning game drive through Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park, during the experience you will spot elephants, buffaloes, lions, antelopes, warthogs and various bird species.
After the game drive, proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is a home to the nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Along the way, you will pass through the scenic highlands, terraced hillsides, and local villages often referred to as the ‘’Switzerland of Africa.’’. Upon arrival, check into your forest lodge and relax, later dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi National Park.
Today is the highlight of your safari and one of the greatest wildlife experiences in Africa. After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking. After the briefing enter the forest with experienced trackers and look for the mountain gorillas and along the way, you will experience the beauty of the forest filled with birds, butterflies, and unique vegetation. Once the gorillas are found, spend one hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat, as they are feeding, playing, grooming one another, and care for their young ones which is emotional and unforgettable. After trek, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Departure.
After breakfast, start on your journey to Entebbe, along the way enjoy the scenic views of the Uganda’s countryside and stop in Mbarara for en-route lunch, proceed with the journey and make another second stopover at the equator for taking photos and souvenir shopping. Depending on the flight schedule, and continue to Entebbe international Airport for your departure flight that will bring your safari come to the end.
