Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls, located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and stands as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. At the peak of the rainy season, its powerful waters cascade 108 meters (354 feet) into a profound gorge, producing a breathtaking spectacle of mist and a roaring sound that resonates from great distances.

The Falls provide an engaging experience that evolves throughout the seasons. The Emerald Season, spanning from December to April, ushers in heavy rains that cause the Zambezi River to swell, resulting in the Falls roaring with immense power. As Amber Season (September to November) arrives, water levels recede, unveiling the striking beauty of the gorge’s rocky facade.

Guided tours to the Zambian side of the Falls are offered throughout the year. In Emerald Season, we provide excursions to the Zimbabwean side of the Falls. Adventurers have the opportunity to experience white-water rafting, bungee jumping, bridge swinging, and enjoy lunch on Livingstone Island – situated right at the edge of the Falls. Kindly be aware that certain activities rely on water levels and might not be accessible throughout the year; for further information, do not hesitate to reach out to one of our knowledgeable Travel Advisors.  For the local Tonga people, Victoria Falls – referred to as Mosi-oa-Tunya, or “the Smoke that Thunders” – carries profound spiritual importance. The Falls are held in high esteem as the home of Nyami Nyami, the river god thought to safeguard the land and its people.

The region around Victoria Falls serves as an entry point to some of Africa’s most remarkable safari experiences. From the untamed wilds of Lower Zambezi National Park to the rich landscapes of Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, this region immerses you in some of the world’s most renowned ecosystems. Victoria Falls transcends its status as a global monument; it embodies a journey that evolves with the seasons. Each turn presents an opportunity to engage with nature, wildlife, and the narratives of the individuals who inhabit this land.

At this location of the Victoria waterfalls, approximately 700,000 cubic meters flow every minute from a height of around 93 meters. The view is exceptional at a location referred to as Viewpoint 3. The vistas of these falls are breathtaking.

The Devil’s Cataract

The name of this place originated from the sacrifices made by the local people, who sought blessings and wealth in this area. Upon the arrival of the missionaries, they dissuaded the local populace from their practices, marking a significant moment in history. As the water levels decrease, visitors enjoy swimming in the pool at the Devil’s cataract, observing the cascading water from just a few feet away.

The Horseshoe Falls

These are seasonal falls on the Zambezi that may not be visible during the dry season in October and November. The name Horseshoe derives from its resemblance to a horse shoe.

The Rainbow Falls

The falls received their name due to the enchanting appearances of a rainbow that frequently happens when the river’s water levels are elevated. Water cascades down 108m, creating the deepest falls among all the previously mentioned. This location provides an excellent backdrop for photography.
