6 days Rwanda Primate and Big five luxury safari brings together the country’s most wonderful wildlife safari experience in a smooth and then well-paced safari. From the mist covered slopes of Volcanoes National Park, where rare primates live among bamboo forests to the open savannah of Akagera National Park, home to the Big five, the itinerary balances adventure with comfort. There are also scenic flights that reduce travel time, while carefully selected lodges offer privacy, private views, and attentive service, making the safari experience both rewarding and relaxing.
Day 1: Arrival.
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Kigali. Depending on your arrival time, you mat take a short city tour to simply relax at your hotel after the journey. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Fly to Volcanoes National Park.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the short scenic flight to Volcanoes National Park. On arrival, you will be transferred to your lodge near the park. You will check in your lodge for lunch, after lunch enjoy the cool mountain air, or take in views of Volcanoes, as you prepare for the next day’s activities. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After you will be transferred to the park headquarters and receive a briefing about the rules and regulations for gorilla trekking, after explore the forest with experienced trackers, you will hike through the forest while looking for the habituated gorilla family. Once found, you will spend one hour observing them in their natural environment.
After return back to the lodge for lunch, after lunch you will head again to the forest for a golden monkey trekking. These lively and fast-moving primates offer a different, energetic viewing experience. Return to your lodge in the evening for relaxation and overnight stay
Day 4: Transfer to Akagera National Park and Boat safari (optional helicopter flight)
After breakfast, depart by road to Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda, you will pass through tolling hills and rural landscapes before reaching the park. In afternoon, you will enjoy the boat safari on Lake Ihema, to where you will see large schools of hippos, crocodiles, and then a variety of birdlife along the shoreline. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Big five game drives in Akagera national park.
Today after your breakfast, you will spend the day exploring Akagera on the guided game drives. The park is a home to the Big five mammals (lions, buffaloes, leopards, rhinos, elephants) and other animals like zebras, giraffes and many other species of antelopes. Morning and afternoon game drives today gives you the best chances of spotting wildlife, while with the beautiful landscapes from the lakes to the open plains that add variety to the experience. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Departure.
After breakfast, check out from your lodge and drive back to Kigali. When you reach in Kigali, you will first enjoy your en-route lunch and then later be transferred to Kigali International Airport and for your departure flight, that brings your Rwanda safari to an end.
